The concept of self-carriage refers to a horse being able to maintain its posture independently without relying on constant aids from the rider for support.
In order to accomplish this, the rider must also work towards their own聽self-carriage. This involves riders being light, sensitive, and in command of their movements. It's essential to sustain your posture without depending on the horse for support. Once you achieve this聽feeling you are one step closer in the pursuit of horsemanship.

Foundation Seat and Independent Seat: Two different classes located In Self-Carriage
In Self-Carriage Community members have access to both the Foundation Seat and Independent Seat classes.
Foundation Seat classes are 30 minutes of exercises that offer a gentler practice for those coming back into training from a break, or recovering from an injury, or just want something thats a lower intensity.
Independent Seat classes are 45 minute workouts that have more complex movement patters, with increased resistance, and are generally faster paced. Everyone is encouraged to move at their own pace during聽the classes. These classes are designed for riders that have been in consistent practice for a long time and are ready for more intense workouts as part of their weekly聽routine.
As an In Self-Carriage Community member you have access to both groups and classes聽at any time that you wish to move up, or to take it easy that day.
We meet together as a group once every 2聽weeks on Wednesdays to cover an area of anatomy, or discuss progress, to introduce or聽check-in on 30 day challenges, learn a new pre-ride聽warmup.
