Meet Trish
Horses and Human Movement are my Passions
I have loved horses for as long as I can remember. Earning a living coaching riders to move well with their horses is a dream come true.
In the beginning my focus was on training horses to carry their riders well. Horses would constantly return to me for "refresher" training sessions. I knew there had to be a more sustainable solution.
I believe that every rider possesses the skills to "feel", be coordinated and to move well with their horses.
I coached riders to improve equitation, essentially to be softer and to flow with their horses. I noticed that riders could make changes for a few minutes during the session, but they never lasted.
In 2016 I was introduced to the mini roller, little did I know how this piece of equipment would change my life and those of my students.
I noticed that riders improved drastically after using the mini roller for a few minutes in the saddle.Â
How was this possible? I had so many questions.
This marked the beginning of my journey into human functional movement for riders.
In 2020 I enrolled in the very first Train Your Seat Online course about the pelvis. I met an international community of equestrian movement enthusiasts, learned about muscles, fascia, bones, imagery and how we move with our horses. Courses run over 3 months and comprise of over 48 hours of classes, and teaching practice.
The exam process tests us on knowledge and specifically applying student-centered teaching.
TYSâ˘ď¸ trains rider biomechanics coaches to a high standard using Embodied Rider Biomechanics, that gets riders feeling their bodies.
I have completed 4 trainings including the pelvis, spine, legs and shoulders. I am proud to be the only 4* Train Your Seatâ˘ď¸ Rider Biomechanics Coach in Western Canada.
Today, my focus is on helping riders all over the world to sustainably improve coordination, movement, balance, strength and the ability to absorb force and to move optimally with their horses. The sustainable approach to helping horses and riders in the pursuit of horsemanship.
I created the In Self-Carriage Fitness Community as a place where riders can participate in live workouts, enjoy exercising, stay curious about anatomy, share videos, get feedback, find "the why" in training, build a lifestyle habit and be part of global change for humans and horses.
I look forward to meeting you in the pursuit of horsemanship and moving well for life.
Trish.

As equestrians we have a responsibility to our horses to ensure that we are an "easy load to carry" - In Self-Carriage
When we are in control of our movement, and have independent seat, legs and hand cues we can get out of the horses way and let them carry us with relaxation and ease - towards self-carriage.
In Self-Carriage Fitness was born to help riders to confidently move better with their horses. Resulting in clear communication, light aids, and following movement.
